A Pile of…

I had intended to put this up about two days ago, but things didn’t quite go as planned. So one day when I was supposed to be focusing on something else, I thought of a nifty way of making lace cuff bracelets.  One I hadn’t done before that would allow me to use this one lace I have that needs to be used up.  It looks pretty cute right?  Although is kind of look like a garter, it is sort of made the same...

Pants To…

So remember the two pairs of pants I got at that yard sale a few weeks ago (see Good Day for a (Yard) Sale)?  I found that although I liked the fabric I certainly did not like the fit.  They were a bit snug in some places while too loose in the worst places.  Of course there are things that can be done about all of that. So here they are before all sad and unflattering… …And after.  I first cut...

More Combing and Clipping

Due to some technical problems, this is up about 2 days late. Anyway, it has been a while since I last made any hair accessories, at least it seems like a while.  Just in case, I decided to whip up a good batch of them.  That includes two large barrettes, two pairs of hair combs, and a ribbon headband.  The combs and barrettes involve several lace rosettes, just like the ones for my broach tutorial but...

Teddies in Jammies

This is my nephew’s teddy bear, “Teddy”.  He loves this little guy.  One evening I thought it would be cute to put a pair of pajama pants on Teddy.  My nephew loved this idea.  The problem was that the pair I put on him were too long.  It was one of those doll ones I made (see Tiny Jim-Jams).  We just rolled up the legs and they worked okay temporarily.  Fast forward, I whipped up...

Bursting in Bloom

So one day I was reading a few (more like a lot of) blogs, several of which had posts about none other than pincushions.  Really, really cute pincushions.  I was then overcome with this incredible urge to whip up some of my own.  And that’s how these fine examples came to be.  If it isn’t obvious, they are supposed to be shaped like flowers.  I used some pink fabric scraps I unearthed from...

T-shirt Redo Redo

A couple years ago, I altered one particular t-shirt (see Like Sunshine).  It was probably one the first ones I did that involved lace.  Anyway, since then that particular shirt has met with disaster.  Disaster involved being covered in red, yellow, and blue stains that would not wash out.  No picture of it, it was depressing.  Luckily the stained bits could be cut off.  However, this...

Happy #3

Two good things today.  First, it’s my blog’s birthday.  It’s 3 years old today, yay!  Second, I actually remembered it this time.  Double yay!  Last year I was a few days late and the year before, let’s not think about that.  Anyway, last year I made a lovely little video to celebrate (see Happy #2).  Since it was so much fun to do, I decided to make one for this year too.  Enjoy img...

Doubled Up

So tomorrow is my brother’s birthday.  Every year this brings the same old problem, what do I make to give him?  I have mostly aimed to make things that are somewhat practical or appeal to his interests, the later being considerably harder to do. So this year the practical gift is…a wallet keychain.  It is similar to ones I have made in the past.  A simple zippered pouch with a key ring attached...

Surprise, Sunflowers!

I bought this fabric with little sunflowers on it from SAS at least 2 years ago.  I made a dress with it (see Sunflowers and Candy) as well as several other little things (doll clothes, accessories, etc.).  One day while sorting my stash, I was surprised to find that I actually still had some of it.  Enough to make a skirt.  At a skirt that a bit more casual than the stuff I usually make.  I...
