5 Reasons Why I Got the BC Stack 2017

Yesterday, something strange and miraculous happened.  I checked my email.

I know, I do it everyday, but this time I got a most wonderful email.  It told me about this beautiful thing called the BC Stack.  It’s a bundle deal of resources for bloggers/small businesses.  They only do it once a year, and that’s okay, because it makes it feel like Christmas.   Over $9000 worth of courses and such for a super low price, $27.  That’s it, no extra fees or taxes, just 27 dollars!

I bought it up faster than you can say Goodwill Dollar day.  It is particularly unusual since, I’m sad to admit this, during all the years I’ve been blogging I have never purchased a single course or book on the subject.  I’ve always relied on free resources provided by all the many generous bloggers out there.

Why I took the plunge to get the BC Stack 2017:

• Education is important.  Everyone and their mother will tell you this for everything in life, and blogging is no exception.  I’ve heard from more bloggers than I can count how important it is to invest in your blog/business by taking courses, reading, etc.  You need to learn to grow.  However…
• Money doesn’t grow on trees.  I’ve shied away from many paid blogging courses out there, even the most well loved ones simply due their not so well loved prices.  Some go for hundreds of dollars.  Hard to justify (even though I spend that much on dolls, but that’s another issue).
• I love bargain deals.  You see this well in my Comicon grab bag haul (see Phoenix Comicon Shopping Haul and Grab Bag Opening).  Getting a big bag of goodies for a small, small price is super fun.  And I think the BC Stack is like the motherlode of grab bags.  Except this time, instead of random toys I may not use, I get a boat load of eBooks and courses I will definitely use.  I know this because…
• It includes products I wanted to buy anyway.  That’s right.  Despite my cheapskate nature, there are a few of those oh so pricey courses and books I’m willing to save up for.  Like The Blogging Binder created by Sara Titus as well as several of her eBooks.  Also Blog Clarity’s Media Smash Book.
• Nearly everyone can afford it.  That $27 price tag is tiny.  I’ve bought shoes for more than that, and I’m especially stingy on shoes.  I also spend more than that on fabric, drawing pens, make up (despite the little I actually wear), and my ramen addiction.  If necessary, I can cut back on all of those to afford this bundle easily.

Story Time — To Be a Princess

Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to wear pretty dresses.  Dresses with lots of ruffles, lace, and pretty ribbons that seemed to float in the breeze.

She liked to spin around while wearing her lovely dresses, and she felt like a graceful swan gliding across the water.  But mostly she felt like a beautiful princess as she twirled about in her dream world. 

One day the little girl was twirling around in her best dress.  It was her favorite one, all white with the loveliest of lace and a tiered ruffled skirt. 

Her head was so full of thoughts and dreams of swans and princesses that she didn’t notice several other little girls had approached her.  They were all wearing “fashion” jeans and t-shirts for the most popular TV shows. 

Most of them started giggling at the little girl in her pretty dress and teased her.  No one dresses like that except babies they thought.  This made the little girl so upset that she felt like crying and running home.

Instead she took a deep breath and held her head high.  Princesses were too dignified to let mean little girls see them cry.  So she gracefully walked on until she was out of sight, then the tears burst out and she ran home.

She got home and hid in her room.  The tears continued until her mother came in and asked what was wrong.  When the little girl had finished telling her story, her mother asked her a strange question.  Will the little girl stop wearing her pretty dresses and dress like those other girls?  This puzzled the girl, why would she want to dress like those mean girls?  She didn’t like jeans and those t-shirts all looked the same, plus she loves her dresses way more.  Why would you wear something you didn’t like?  When the girl told her mother this, her mother smiled. 

The next day, the little girl went out again this time in her second favorite dress.  A pretty sky blue dress with puffy sleeves and a lovely sash. 

Suddenly she notice one of the girls from yesterday coming toward her wearing one of those horribly “trendy” outfits.  She started to get scared that the girl would laugh at her.

But then the girl remembered the talk she had with her mother.  All the girls could laugh as much as they wanted she thought, it won’t stop her from dressing how she wanted. 

But the girl from yesterday didn’t laugh at her, she very quietly said that the dress was pretty and so was the one from yesterday.  This surprised the little girl, she didn’t know what to do. 

For a second, she thought about saying something about how ugly this girl’s jeans were, but then she would be like those mean girls and princesses are better than that.  So using her best princess-like manners, she said the nicest thing she could think of.  Thank you. 

Now there are two little girls who love to wear pretty dresses.  Dresses with lots of ruffles, lace, and pretty ribbons that seemed to float in the breeze.  And the little girl feels more like a princess now than ever before.  A strong, kind and beautiful princess.

Up to 17, and a Slight Announcement

Sorry this is up kind of late, I had intended to have the new list up a few days ago and not in the middle of the night.  I have been a little preoccupied, again.  I decided to continue my education, again.  I have enrolled in classes at the local community and will start working my way to a degree in Veterinary Technology.  Yay!  So excited, can’t wait for my first day of class.  To help with the wait, I added a few items to my list that will be useful for school.  I guess it is a little early for “Back to School” crafts, but I enrolled in Summer courses so I need them now.  So here’s my list, another short and sweet one.

A Little Cardboard and Biology

This is something I’ve been working on for a project for school.  I guess it kind of looks like a big, blue cardboard drum.  I drew pictures of the the lifecycle of Dipetalonema recoditum(it’s an internal parasite) and glued them around it.  Hence the reason for the circular shape.  Then I glued on more information on the other sides.  I think it looks great, and I guess my drawing skills aren’t too bad considering that I haven’t really done much drawing in oh so many years.  Now the only problem is getting it to class tomorrow, that and presenting it orally.  Not entirely looking forward to that.  It could be worse, I could end up accidentally leaving it at home.  Now that would be a nightmare.

Draw! A School Update

In class today, I drew blood.  Not my own, from a dog. 

He’s name is Sysco and I drew blood into a syringe from his cephalic vein, without passing out!  I wasn’t even nauseous, well maybe a little.  I guess forcing myself to watch it being done all these months really paid off. 

In case it isn’t obvious to those who haven’t been following, I’ve always had a thing about needles and getting shots.  The thought of being at the other end of the needle seemed so far off, until now. 

Just think, if I can handle this maybe I can handle other scary things, like giving blood.  Whoa!  One thing at a time.  For now I’m glad, maybe I really am ready for anything.

Biology and Felt Collide

I haven’t really touched base in a while about how I’m doing with my  classes.  It’s been okay so far, still getting mostly As and all.  This is the cell model I made for my current class.  All the other students thought the idea of models and dioramas sounded so junior high.  I’m thinking, whatever, it’s fun to do and easy to get a decent grade.  So I got it done right away.  It’s not even due for another week.

For the base I used cardboard, again, made in the shape of a round lid.  I thought about making cute little boxes while I was at it, but let’s stick to one thing at a time.  For all the parts, I used various scraps of felt, some braided trim for the mitochondria, and I used part of an old zipper for the endoplasmic reticulum.  I had used the zipper for another project and it was too long, so I cut it down to size.  I’ve been saving the cut off part forever, it’s funny what things become useful down the road.  I once patched up a pair of shoes with a appliqué I saved from a shirt I cut up many years before.  I actually wear the shoes more than shirt now.

Jobbing 101

It’s been awhile since I posted, I’ve been job hunting (groan).  Not an area I’m skilled at by the way.  I’ve been thinking, why don’t public high schools offer education in job hunting skill.  The idea of school mainly is to gave kids the knowledge they will need to succeed in life.  That would include skills like resume writing, right.  I never learned that in class.  And I know my high school did have a career center for things like that, but as far as I could tell it was never open when I could go.  Seriously, it only seem to be open during class time, when I was suppose to be in class “learning”.  The only time I ever saw the inside of the career center was when one of my teachers took the class over because representatives from the military were there.  I wanted to “be all that I can be”, but not in that sense.  It’s probably my silly belief that it should be of a high priority for our nation’s youth to be prepared to support themselves when they finish their education.   After all, no matter where you come from and where you’re going, you likely will have fill out an employment application at least once in your life.
