My Favorite Things: CVS Body Wash

It has been so long since the last time I’ve done a Favorite Things post.  And there are so many favorite things I need to share too.  But lets stick with one at a time.

Romance Body Wash from CVS

This time it’s body wash.

I find body wash works better for me than bar soap and is less likely to contain ingredients I would rather not put on my body, like animal fat.

I love the body washes at CVS, and I’m not saying this just because I actually work there.  Of course I have to admit I do get an employee discount on things I buy at the store that aren’t on sale, especially store brands.  But this is just a bonus for me.  I get to buy products I love for a little less than normal, and I don’t have to make an extra trip.

Anyway, the body wash is great.  There’s a great selection of scents or as I call them flavors, and because it’s a store brand the normal price isn’t going to bust a budget too much.  And for those who aren’t lucky enough to get a discount, it does go on sale frequently and you can usually get store coupons from the coupon center that make them even cheaper.

My current favorite is the Romance body wash (in the picture).  It smells like soft roses, so pretty.  I have a vanilla moisturizing body wash and I like to mix the two together for my own custom blend.  They are perfect together.  Of course if roses aren’t you’re thing, they have other body washes with less flowery flavors like citrus and cucumber.  There’s a Sport one intended for men.  But for me, the pretty flavors are the way to go.

Stash Busting for the Holidays

Christmas is getting dangerously closer every day, well maybe “dangerously” is too strong a word.  Anyway, I haven’t done much crafting yet so it’s time to get into high gear.  I decided to try something slightly different this years.  I won’t have a list, at least not one I can post here.  It lists only those I’m crafting for so it would probably ruin the surprise this year.  So instead I will post this…

craft stash overload

…my craft stash.  Well actually a small portion of my stash, probably about a 4th of it all.  This pile is made up of leftover fabric from recent and not so recent projects, bits of lace and other trims, flowers, buttons, Christmas stuff I got for free, stuff from my recent thrift store haul (see Bagging it on Black Friday), fleece scraps from several years ago, t-shirts I wanted to alter, and several items I got on a whim that I haven’t touched since.  I decided to challenge myself.  For this Christmas, these are the only supplies I will allow myself to use with the exception of stuff like thread, my glue gun, sewing machine, etc.  So just these and basic supplies on hand.  I will not spend any money either.  Who needs more supplies when I have plenty already.  So far I have several ideas for Christmas ornaments planned because it just isn’t Christmas without handmade ornaments.  Plus I do plan on making a new dress.  Look forward to it. :)

A Time for Change

I know I haven’t been doing a good job about blogging regularly for the last couple of months.  It’s been what, two weeks since the last post?

The same old excuses apply this time, especially about being sick.  That’s what bugs me the most, it seems like I was constantly feeling unwell throughout the past year which really got in the way of everything.  It even got in the way of my pre-season training for work (it’s tax season again).  Which is why I decided to make some changes.

A new year is a time for resolutions, so my first one is to devote myself to healthier living.  So far what that amounts to is forcing myself through fitness videos at least once every other day and going through recipes.  The recipe thing is the big thing.

I have piles of nutritious (and not so nutritious) recipes that I have collected from various sources, and most of them are untouched.  I thought I would start small and try at least one new recipe per week.  If it’s a good one, I will probably make it several times until I’ve mastered it.

That’s what is happening with this week’s recipe, miso soup.  I found the recipe on the package for the miso.  It’s easy to follow and I have even developed a quick way to make it in the microwave.

Another resolution that may be more relevant to this blog, clutter control.  I think it’s easier to show what I mean than to type it.

A Time for Change, Here's a photo of my craft space. Tons of craft and sewing supplies scatter on every available surface. Covering the desk and chair, spilling out of drawers, falling from shelves. How do I work in this space?

This is the current state of my crafting space.  Enough said.  Sadly this is only slightly worse than it’s normal state.

And notice that blue plastic bag under the pile on my chair, that’s a bag of supplies I bought at SAS recently.  As if I really needed anymore.

I’ll show what I got tomorrow, it’s important since it will be the last craft purchases I’ll make for quite some time.  I intend to straighten up my space, sort though my stash, and craft strictly with what I have on hand for as long as possible this year.

Wish me luck, I may need it.

Late Spring Cleaning

washboard2cLate is right.  It’s just about Summer.  For the last few days I have been busily cleaning out my closet.  It involved literally washing every piece of clothing most of which had to be done by hand, sorting and resorting, then packing or tossing.  I had a huge pile of stuff to donate/giveaway and a larger pile of mending.  I now have it mostly done and I can actually see the closet floor.  Still more to go, and I still don’t understand why I have so much clothing.  I guess it’s because I don’t wear things out and people still keep giving me “hand-me-downs”.  It sort of builds up.  Oh well, have a toast to a great Memorial Day and clean closets to all.
